Lil' Gator Game is one of my kid's favourite games. It's a fun adventure game about a little alligator running around an island playing with their friends.
The player is free to go anywhere, climbing mountains, gliding with their parachute, bopping cardboard cut-outs with their sword.
It's a light parody of the Zelda series, with characters referencing their favourite game being about a "green hero", and a lot of the game mechanics based on the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Animal friends on the island often ask the player to do things, so it's a great opportunity to encourage your kid to start to read. You could start by getting your kid to read just the first or last word in the character's dialog.

At the start of the game there is quite a bit of text so I would recommend reading it to your kid if they don't yet have the stamina.
The game also helps to expose your kid to narrative structure, the idea of starting somewhere, going on a quest, coming back home.
